Feasibility, indications and complications of SCIP flap for reconstruction after extirpative surgery for vulvar cancer

Summary: This retrospective observational study reviewed 32 patients who underwent surgery for vulvar cancer and reconstruction using SCIP flaps between 2015 and 2020. The results showed that SCIP flap reconstruction had a low complication rate and minimal donor site morbidity, making it suitable for reconstruction of vulvar, perineal, and inguinal defects.

This article aims to review the psychological, relational, and sexual issues experienced by women with vulvar cancer, highlighting the importance of this issue and improving the quality of care offered to these patients. Implementing an integrated care model can help identify unmet needs and improve the quality of life of these women.
