Sunitinib increases the cancer stem cells and vasculogenic mimicry formation via modulating the lncRNA-ECVSR/ERβ/Hif2-α signaling

Miao He et al.

Summary: This study found that Sunitinib may promote RCC progression by increasing VM formation through the lncRNA-ECVSR/ERβ/Hif2-alpha signaling pathway. Combining Sunitinib with PHTPP can reduce VM formation and enhance treatment efficacy.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

The 2021 Updated European Association of Urology Guidelines on Renal Cell Carcinoma: Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-based Combination Therapies for Treatment-naive Metastatic Clear-cell Renal Cell Carcinoma Are Standard of Care

Jens Bedke et al.

Summary: The recent trials have shown improved survival benefits with immune checkpoint inhibitor combinations in advanced kidney cancer, particularly with lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab, cabozantinib plus nivolumab, axitinib plus pembrolizumab, and ipilimumab plus nivolumab. These combination therapies are recommended as first-line treatments for advanced kidney cancer.

Subgroup-Independent Mapping of Renal Cell Carcinoma-Machine Learning Reveals Prognostic Mitochondrial Gene Signature Beyond Histopathologic Boundaries

Andre Marquardt et al.

Summary: The study re-analyzed RCC datasets from the TCGA database and identified a distinct subgroup independent of histology, characterized by enhanced mitochondrial and weakened angiogenesis-related gene signatures. Affiliation to the mixed subgroup was associated with significantly shorter overall survival for ccRCC patients and longer overall survival for chRCC patients. Further research may lead to therapeutic stratification based on the mitochondrial metabolism of tumors and their microenvironment.

New Molecular Mechanisms and Clinical Impact of circRNAs in Human Cancer

Giulia Fontemaggi et al.

Summary: circRNAs are a new class of non-coding RNAs that play a role in cellular functions and various diseases, especially in human cancer. They are involved in cancer progression and metastasis through multiple mechanisms, particularly as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) for miRNAs, lncRNAs, and mRNAs.

Mechanisms Regulating Abnormal Circular RNA Biogenesis in Cancer

Ying Huang et al.

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play crucial roles in tumor development, but the mechanism of their dysregulation in cancer remains unclear. CircRNAs are generated by a back-splicing process and are regulated by different cis-regulatory elements and trans-acting proteins.
