Patient ethnicity and cascade genetic testing: a descriptive study of a publicly funded hereditary cancer program

The majority of tests were for BRCA1/BRCA2 genes, and most patients were female with an average age of 49 years old.

Swiss cost-effectiveness analysis of universal screening for Lynch syndrome of patients with colorectal cancer followed by cascade genetic testing of relatives

Applying the Test strategy on patients and their families has shown a decrease in cancer cases and a substantial decrease in economic resources costs.

Summary: Among Medicare beneficiaries undergoing genetic testing for suspected LS, rates of P/LP variants in actionable cancer genes were similar regardless of whether testing criteria were met. Current testing criteria fail to identify individuals with P/LP variants in PMS2 and other actionable cancer genes. Relaxing LS testing criteria could improve identification of individuals with hereditary cancer syndromes among Medicare beneficiaries.
