Delirium in older adults is associated with development of new dementia: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that older adult inpatients who develop delirium have a significantly higher risk of subsequently developing dementia. Further research in different patient populations and exploring the impact of delirium duration, severity, and subtype on dementia development is needed.
