In pursuit of biomarkers for predicting susceptibility to activity-based anorexia in adolescent female rats

Summary: The study found that increased locomotion and anxiety-like behavior were associated with susceptibility to pathological weight loss in rats. However, primary measures of anxiety-like or compulsive behavior did not predict vulnerability to weight loss. Changes in the expression of proinflammatory markers IL-4 and IL-6 were associated with vulnerability, and behavior related to risk assessment predicted susceptibility to weight loss.
