Proteomics and enriched biological processes in Antiphospholipid syndrome: A systematic review

Ariadna Anunciacion-Llunell et al.

Summary: Identification of differentially expressed proteins in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) through proteomics research provides insights into the pathological mechanisms and potential clinical applications. Dysregulated proteins in APS patients are connected to cellular activation and thrombosis, highlighting the need for validation and targeted therapies for different clinical subtypes.Exploration of new autoantibodies and post-translational modifications also contribute to understanding the antigen-autoantibody recognition in APS.

Post Translational Modification and Its Pathologic Association in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Brief Perspective

Vishnupreetha Vasudevan et al.

Summary: Post Translational Modification (PTM) is a process that adds functional groups on proteins to maintain their structure, function, and stability, but can also lead to autoimmune diseases. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disease that requires early diagnosis and proper treatment for management but is incurable. Multiple PTMs, including citrullination, can generate autoantibodies and play a role in the pathogenesis of RA.

Complementary Effects of Carbamylated and Citrullinated LL37 in Autoimmunity and Inflammation in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Roberto Lande et al.

Summary: LL37 acts as T-cell/B-cell autoantigen in SLE and psoriatic disease by binding to self DNA, triggering IFN-I/pro-inflammatory factors production. Citrullinated-LL37 T-cell epitopes are better antigens in SLE, particularly in HLA-DRB1*1501/HLA-DRB5*0101 backgrounds. Carbamylated-LL37 in SLE tissues stimulates IFN-alpha production and B-cell maturation, serving as novel disease biomarkers.
