Algebraic multigrid for systems of elliptic boundary-value problems

Barry Lee

Summary: This article develops an algebraic multigrid (AMG) method for solving systems of elliptic boundary-value problems, focusing on the selection of CDOFs and the construction of the interpolation operator. By using a new strength of connection measure and the Ruge-Stuben algorithm's extension, the selection of CDOFs and construction of the interpolation operator are determined. The BAMG procedure is applied for constructing the interpolation operator, with consideration given to adapting the order of interpolation based on a weak approximation criterion over the computational domain.

Microstructure evolution under [110] creep in Ni-base superalloys

M. Cottura et al.

Summary: Microstructure evolutions in Ni-base superalloys under [110] creep loading were investigated using 3D and 2D phase field simulations. It was found that minor misorientations of the tensile axis lead to rafting, while loading along a perfectly aligned [110] direction results in a microstructure composed of rod-like precipitates. The direction of the mechanical load significantly affects the evolution of microstructure and macroscopic creep behavior.
