Colloidal HgTe Quantum Dot/Graphene Phototransistor with a Spectral Sensitivity Beyond 3 μm

Matthias J. Grotevent et al.

Summary: Colloidal quantum dot graphene phototransistors with spectral sensitivity up to 3 μm, specific detectivities of 6 x 10(8) Jones at a wavelength of 2.5 μm and 80K temperature are presented. Even at kHz light modulation frequencies, specific detectivities exceed 10(8) Jones, making them suitable for fast video imaging. The simple device architecture and QD film patterning, combined with broad spectral sensitivity, represent an important step toward low-cost, multi-color infrared cameras.

Visible and infrared dual-band imaging via Ge/MoS2 van der Waals heterostructure

Aujin Hwang et al.

Summary: Multispectral photodetectors are emerging devices capable of detecting photons in multiple wavelength ranges such as visible (VIS) and near infrared (NIR). These detectors provide additional information beyond human vision, including thermal image and night vision, and are hindered by structural complexity. The proposed Ge/MoS2 van der Waals heterojunction photodetector simplifies operation and reduces peripheral circuitry, offering potential integration of VIS/NIR vision for various applications.

Summary: Utilizing solution-processed monolayer organic crystal, ferroelectric HfZrOx gating, and van der Waals fabrication, researchers have developed flexible OTFTs with high transconductance and low power consumption. These OTFTs demonstrate outstanding intrinsic gain and amplifier voltage gain, outperforming existing technologies. Additionally, researchers have successfully integrated wearable ECG and pulse sensors with high fidelity amplification, capable of detecting weak ECG waves and diagnosing arrhythmia, showing great promise for battery/wireless-powered applications like electronic skins and RFID tags.

Signatures of moire trions in WSe2/MoSe2 heterobilayers

Erfu Liu et al.

Summary: Moire superlattices formed by van der Waals materials can support a wide range of electronic phases including Mott insulators, superconductors, and generalized Wigner crystals. The coupling of moire trions to charge carriers in tungsten diselenide/molybdenum diselenide heterobilayers leads to the emergence of new excitonic crystals with distinct properties and behaviors, motivating further theoretical and experimental studies of higher-order electron correlation effects in moire superlattices.

Unipolar barrier photodetectors based on van der Waals heterostructures

Yunfeng Chen et al.

Summary: Band-engineered van der Waals heterostructures are able to construct high room-temperature detectivity detectors for visible light and blackbody infrared light by blocking dark current without suppressing photocurrent. Utilizing two-dimensional materials with self-passivated surfaces and tunable band structures, unipolar barriers can be designed to avoid lattice mismatch and interface defects, achieving low dark current and high detectivity in photodetectors.
