Aneurysm Wall Enhancement in Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms: A Histopathological Evaluation

Weiying Zhong et al.

Summary: This study found that unruptured intracerebral aneurysm wall enhancement is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammatory cell infiltration. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that atherosclerosis is the only factor significantly and independently associated with AWE. Histological assessment showed that inflammatory cell infiltration, intraluminal thrombus, and vasa vasorum are significantly associated with AWE.

Oxidatively Modified LDL Suppresses Lymphangiogenesis via CD36 Signaling

Bhupesh Singla et al.

Summary: This study reveals that oxidized LDL (oxLDL) inhibits lymphangiogenesis via CD36-mediated regulation of the AKT/eNOS pathway and cell cycle, which can be promoted by therapeutic blockade of the CD36 in LEC, leading to a reduction in atherosclerosis by increasing arterial lymphangiogenesis and cholesterol removal.

Time-Dependent Pathological Changes in Hypoperfusion-Induced Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Hirona Kugo et al.

Summary: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) involves gradual dilation of the abdominal aorta and has a high mortality due to rupture, with hypoperfusion being a key factor. Time-dependent analysis is crucial to understanding the pathological cascade following hypoperfusion, which may directly affect AAA development. Findings suggest that hypoperfusion-induced hypoxia plays a significant role in the activities of contractile smooth muscle cells, contributing to the progression of AAA.

Pericyte-specific deletion of ninjurin-1 induces fragile vasa vasorum formation and enhances intimal hyperplasia of injured vasculature

Kiwamu Horiuchi et al.

Summary: The study shows that Ninj1 plays an important role in the maturation of adventitial microvessels and vascular remodeling during vascular injury, with deletion of Ninj1 in pericytes exacerbating adventitial inflammation and increasing intimal hyperplasia.

Patient-specific computational evaluation of stiffness distribution in ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm

Marzio Di Giuseppe et al.

Summary: This study utilized the LESI method to evaluate local stiffness properties of ATAAs, revealing strong positive correlations between local ATAAs stiffness and aortic pulse pressure, as well as patient age in BAV ATAAs. However, there was no significant correlation between local ATAAs stiffness and wall shear stress. Additionally, no significant difference was found in the extensional stiffness between BAV ATAAs and TAV ATAAs.

Adventitial Microcirculation Is a Major Target of SARS-CoV-2-Mediated Vascular Inflammation

Francesco Vasuri et al.

Summary: A 77-year-old woman with COVID-19 developed occlusive arterial disease in the lower limb requiring amputation, with research showing involvement of adventitial artery microcirculation in COVID-19 cases without evident signs of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Structural and functional alterations in endothelial cells may contribute to cardiovascular complications in SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals.
