Ultrafast Triplet Generation at the Lead Halide Perovskite/Rubrene Interface

Carl R. Conti et al.

Summary: Bulk lead halide perovskites can efficiently convert infrared-to-visible photons through triplet sensitization, making them potential candidates for integration with photovoltaic devices. Understanding the fundamental photophysical pathways at the perovskite/rubrene interface is crucial for improving the upconversion efficiency and maximizing charge extraction.

Tuning Spin-Polarized Lifetime in Two-Dimensional Metal-Halide Perovskite through Exciton Binding Energy

Xihan Chen et al.

Summary: Metal-halide perovskite semiconductors show potential for opto-spintronic applications by manipulating charge and spin degrees of freedom to reduce power consumption and achieve faster switching times. Tuning excitation density and exciton binding energy can lead to long spin lifetimes in these systems, with different mechanisms dominating at low and high excitation densities.

Directing Energy Transfer in Halide Perovskite-Chromophore Hybrid Assemblies

Jeffrey T. DuBose et al.

Summary: Controlling the flow of energy and excited states in nanocrystal-chromophore hybrid assemblies is crucial for their photocatalytic and optoelectronic applications. By studying the interactions in CsPbBr3-Rhodamine B (RhB) hybrid assembly, it was found that a singlet-energy-transfer mechanism is present on a timescale of around 200 ps. The ability to tune optical properties through halide exchange provides a unique platform for tailoring excited-state interactions in perovskite-chromophore assemblies.

Chiral-induced spin selectivity enables a room-temperature spin light-emitting diode

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: Traditional optoelectronic approaches rely on both electrical and magnetic fields to control spin, charge, and light, while the use of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) technology allows for the fabrication of a spin-LED that operates at room temperature without the need for magnetic fields or ferromagnetic contacts.

Marcus inverted region of charge transfer from low-dimensional semiconductor materials

Junhui Wang et al.

Summary: The authors have revealed the Marcus inverted region for charge transfer from low-dimensional semiconductor materials by measuring charge transfer from single-charge states instead of excitonic states. This unique approach provides a new way to study charge transfer and sheds light on the understanding of this key process in energy conversion.

Interlayer Triplet Energy Transfer in Dion-Jacobson Two-Dimensional Lead Halide Perovskites Containing Naphthalene Diammonium Cations

YunHui L. Lin et al.

Summary: In the study of interlayer energy transfer in mixed-halide Dion-Jacobson 2D perovskites containing divalent naphthalene cations, it was found that the sensitized phosphorescence is dominated by naphthalene triplet excimer emission. However, competition occurs between naphthalene monomer phosphorescence and triplet excimer formation when the inorganic exciton is tuned near resonance with the naphthalene triplet. This interlayer energy-transfer process was further elucidated through ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, revealing kinetic variations in triplet excimer formation times. Ultimately, controlling interlayer interactions in 2D perovskites through cation design will lead to the discovery of new functions and applications for these materials.

Green-to-UV photon upconversion enabled by new perovskite nanocrystal-transmitter-emitter combination

Mio Koharagi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the first example of triplet-triplet annihilation-based photon upconversion from green light to ultraviolet light sensitized by lead halide perovskite nanocrystals. The combination of a new transmitter that extracts triplet energy from perovskite and a UV emitter with a low triplet energy level effectively lengthens the excitation wavelength of perovskite-sensitized upconverted UV emission.
