Process of metal-organic framework (MOF)/covalent-organic framework (COF) hybrids-based derivatives and their applications on energy transfer and storage

Bingbing Cui et al.

Summary: The exploration of electrocatalysts, such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), and porous-organic polymers, has become a big challenge in the face of the fossil-fuel shortage and severe environmental issues. These materials offer opportunities for the development of various electrocatalysts with large surface area and effective functionalization. The resulting MOF/COF heterostructures can be widely applied in clean energy and energy transfer fields. The hybrids of MOFs and COFs have been utilized as versatile precursors for transition metal catalysts, leading to vast applications in energy transfer and storage.

Conductive metal and covalent organic frameworks for electrocatalysis: design principles, recent progress and perspective

Jinyan Wang et al.

Summary: Metal and covalent organic frameworks (MOFs/COFs) are promising catalyst candidates due to their porous nature, chemically defined active sites, and structural diversity. However, they often lack sufficient electrical conductivity to be effective electrocatalysts. This review highlights the design principles of conductive MOFs/COFs and their recent applications in electrocatalytic reactions, such as CO2RR, water splitting, and ORR. Future challenges and prospects for using conductive MOFs/COFs as electrocatalysts are also discussed.
