Outdoor performance of anti-soiling coatings in various climates of Saudi Arabia

Muhammad Zahid Khan et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the outdoor performance of anti-soiling coatings at eight different locations in Saudi Arabia, showing significant variations in anti-soiling functionality depending on location and exposure period. Overall, some coatings showed improved anti-soiling performance compared to an uncoated reference glass, while others showed decreased performance.

Recent Progresses of Superhydrophobic Coatings in Different Application Fields: An Overview

Yuxing Bai et al.

Summary: With advancements in material engineering and coating industries, superhydrophobic coatings, which offer exceptional water repellence along with features like corrosion resistance, self-cleaning, anti-fogging, drag-reduction, and anti-icing properties, have gained attention for applications in various fields. Endowing these coatings with transparency, UV resistance, anti-reflection, water-penetration resistance, thermal insulation, and flame retardancy further expands their utility. However, there is a need for detailed classification and presentation on the application of superhydrophobic coatings in different sectors, as past reviews have been limited in information.

Fabrication of highly transparent and superhydrophilic coatings on glass by modified α-zirconium phosphate nanoplatelets

Fan Lei et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the concentration of TBA(+)OH(-) has a significant impact on the surface wetting and light transmission performance of the coatings, with higher concentrations leading to better results. The intercalation of more TBA(+) ions into ZrP interlayers results in exfoliated nanoplatelets that can cover the entire glass substrate, contributing to the high transparency and superhydrophilic properties of the coatings.

High Transmittance Superhydrophobic Coatings with Durable Self-Cleaning Properties

Michele Ferrari et al.

Summary: The study shows that the use of superhydrophobic coatings can improve the self-cleaning effect of optical devices, increase transparency, and make energy conversion more efficient. A mixed organic-inorganic superhydrophobic coating prepared by spray method can maintain high transmittance under simulated pollution conditions and restore its initial properties.

Experimental investigation of the anti-soiling performances of different wettability of transparent coatings: Superhydrophilic, hydrophilic, hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings

Zu-Sheng Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of surface roughness and surface energy on reducing dust adhesion on PV panels by preparing coatings with different wettability. It was found that the high surface energy of superhydrophilic coatings played a significant role in resisting dust adhesion, while further reducing surface energy on other coatings had limited impact on improving dust-proof ability. Additionally, large airflow velocity was beneficial for resisting dust adhesion for all types of coatings, but had limited effect on improving the anti-soiling effect of superhydrophilic coating under different tilt angles compared to other three coatings.
