Ultrastrong behaviors of a non-equiatomic Ti-Zr-Ni-Cu-Be high entropy metallic glass with ultrahigh glass forming ability

Yuanyuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermodynamics and kinetics of a non-equiatomic high entropy metallic glass (HEMG) with a critical size for glass formation over 50 mm. The research finds that the HEMG has the lowest thermodynamic driving force against crystalline phase formation and exhibits ultrastrong behavior near the glass transition. The alloy also has a higher fragility index compared to typical metallic glass formers reported so far.

Atomic-scale Nb heterogeneity induced icosahedral short-range ordering in metallic glasses

Yuhui Zhu et al.

Summary: This study reports the occurrence of atomic-scale structural clustering and atomic arrangements during isothermal annealing. The evolution of atomic-scale structures is closely related to composition variation and has important implications for the chemical and topological packing during the early crystallization stage of metallic glasses.

Comparative study of thermal stability and crystallization kinetics between melt-spun and bulk Pd77.5Cu6Si16.5 metallic glasses

Y. C. Tang et al.

Summary: A comparative study was conducted on the thermal stability and kinetics of crystallization of melt-spun and bulk Pd77.5Cu6Si16.5 metallic glasses. The results showed that the Pd77.5Cu6Si16.5 amorphous alloys have excellent thermal stability, with the bulk metallic glass exhibiting better stability than the ribbon. The crystallization processes of both the ribbon and the bulk metallic glass were found to be controlled by volume nucleation with different nucleation rates, as indicated by the local Avrami exponent.

Effect of melt cooling rate on glass transition kinetics and structural relaxation of Vit1 metallic glass

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that the melt cooling rate has a significant effect on the glass transition kinetics and structural relaxation of Vit1 metallic glass. As the melt cooling rate decreases, some glass transition parameters of Vit1 metallic glass also gradually decrease. Within the experimental cooling rate range, there is an approximately linear relationship between some glass transition parameters and lgR.
