Increased functional connectivity between presupplementary motor area and inferior frontal gyrus associated with the ability of motor response inhibition in obsessive-compulsive disorder

Hirofumi Tomiyama et al.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests that the presupplementary motor area (pre-SMA) and inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) play an important role in response inhibition. No study has investigated the relationship between these brain networks at resting-state and response inhibition in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The study found that OCD patients exhibit different associations between the ability of motor response inhibition and the functional connectivity between pre-SMA and IFG, indicating altered functional connectivity may contribute to impaired motor response inhibition in OCD.

Reward Functioning Abnormalities in Adolescents at High Familial Risk for Depressive Disorders

Summary: High-risk adolescents exhibit reward functioning impairments, which are associated with medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) fALFFs. The blunted response bias-mPFC fALFFs association may reflect an excessive mPFC-mediated suppression of reward-driven behavior, which may potentiate MDD risk.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Decision Making under Ambiguity: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis

Veronica Nistico et al.

Summary: The meta-analytic study reveals that decision-making impairments are significantly present in OCD patients, particularly in the later stages of the IGT, including those under 18. Both medicated and unmedicated patients showed lower scores compared to healthy controls, suggesting a potential endophenotype between clinical manifestation of OCD and its neurobiological etiology.

Aberrant Resting-State Cerebellar-Cerebral Functional Connectivity in Unmedicated Patients With Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Keitaro Murayama et al.

Summary: In patients with OCD, increased functional connectivity between the right lobule VI and the left precuneus was found compared to healthy controls, but this connectivity was not correlated with the severity of OCD symptoms. This suggests that altered functional connectivity between the cerebellum and DMN may contribute to changes in large-scale brain networks associated with OCD traits.
