Network reorganization during verbal fluency task in fronto-temporal epilepsy: A functional near-infrared spectroscopy study

Hsin Tung et al.

Summary: This study used fNIRS to investigate how the lateralization of the epileptogenic zone affects task-related network patterns in left and right fronto-temporal epilepsy patients. Differences were found in how the two groups reconfigured their brain networks during language tasks, with the left epilepsy patients strengthening inter-hemispheric connections and the right epilepsy patients enhancing bilateral connections. Seizure burden and educational years had differing effects on the network topology of the two groups.
