Summary: The study found that stigma is a major barrier to PrEP care engagement among people who inject drugs. Healthcare stigma and HIV risk among rural people who inject drugs

Hilary L. Surratt et al.

Summary: This study found that rural people who inject drugs experience enacted stigma in healthcare settings, which leads to continuing high-risk injection behaviors and increased HIV infection risk. Public health interventions tailored to decrease stigma in care settings and structural changes to expand healthcare services within SSP settings are important to address these issues.
