Future local climate zone spatial change simulation in Greater Bay Area under the shared socioeconomic pathways and ecological control line

Guangzhao Chen et al.

Summary: Scenario-based land use/land cover change simulation explores future possibilities for decision-making on city development. This study adopts the LCZ scheme to examine LUCC in the GBA under IPCC scenarios, showing that LCZ projections reflect land responses under different SPPs and the ecological protection goal of the Chinese government. The study findings could benefit urban planning, urban climate, and mega-city studies globally.

Dynamic simulation of coastal wetlands for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay area based on multi-temporal Landsat images and FLUS model

Hongjiang Guo et al.

Summary: Coastal wetlands play an important role in protecting coastlines. The coastal landscape of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has undergone significant changes, with natural wetlands decreasing due to human activities and artificial wetlands and non-wetlands increasing. The landscape has become more fragmented and complex, with increasing heterogeneity. Future simulation models predict growth in mangroves under wetland protection, as well as increases in tidal flats, paddy fields, and construction land in different scenarios.

Integrating Remote Sensing and a Markov-FLUS Model to Simulate Future Land Use Changes in Hokkaido, Japan

Zhanzhuo Chen et al.

Summary: As the second largest island in Japan, Hokkaido provides valuable land resources for the Japanese people. This study analyzed the temporal and spatial changes of land use in Hokkaido over the past two decades using remote sensing and GIS technology. Different scenarios were simulated to predict future land use changes, with findings showing the importance of protecting cultivated land in land use planning for the future.
