KairoSight: Open-Source Software for the Analysis of Cardiac Optical Data Collected From Multiple Species

Blake L. Cooper et al.

Summary: Cardiac optical mapping, using fluorescence dyes to image cardiac tissue, has become a gold standard for cardiac research, but analyzing optical signals can be challenging. A new open-source software script named KairoSight has been developed to facilitate analysis of complex cardiac optical mapping datasets, making it accessible to basic and clinical scientists without requiring specialized computer science expertise.

COSMAS: a lightweight toolbox for cardiac optical mapping analysis

Jakub Tomek et al.

Summary: Optical mapping is widely used in experimental cardiology for visualizing cardiac membrane potential and calcium transients, but the large amount of data generated requires automated computer analysis. COSMAS is a software toolkit for automated analysis of optical mapping recordings in cardiac preparations, utilizing the 'comb' algorithm for segmentation and offering script-based analysis for batch processing and reproducibility. The software is designed for easy extension and is provided in Matlab and Python to maximize accessibility for researchers.

Role of Reduced Sarco-Endoplasmic Reticulum Ca2+-ATPase Function on Sarcoplasmic Reticulum Ca2+ Alternans in the Intact Rabbit Heart

Lianguo Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that inhibition of SERCA can slow down SR Ca2+ reuptake, leading to an increase in the magnitude of Ca2+ alternans in cardiac cells, especially at fast pacing frequencies. Notably, the alternation of SR Ca2+ release precedes the alternation of SR Ca2+ load during rapid ventricular pacing.
