An Interoperable Architecture for the Internet of COVID-19 Things (IoCT) Using Open Geospatial Standards-Case Study: Workplace Reopening

Steve H. L. Liang et al.

Summary: To protect workplaces during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, an integrated sensing solution is required for real-time awareness and warnings. The research aims to design an interoperable IoCT architecture to exchange disparate IoT sensor data sources for informed decision-making based on person-to-place interactions. The proposed IoCT offers an open standard-based information model, architecture, methodologies, and software tools for interoperability of COVID-19 monitoring systems with finer spatial-temporal granularity.

Using conservation criminology to understand the role of restaurants in the urban wild meat trade

Sarah Gluszek et al.

Summary: The study explores urban restaurants' perceptions of wild meat consumption and the differences in the wild meat trade between two cities. It found that wild meat is considered a luxury item in urban areas, with monkeys being particularly popular, but restaurants in Brazzaville offer a greater variety of hot wild meat products. There are also differences in the perception of hot wild meat species among different restaurant tiers.
