Synthesis of Mg-Al Hydrotalcite Clay with High Adsorption Capacity

Summary: A novel Mg-Al metal oxide with nanoscale particles and high specific surface area was successfully synthesized using filter paper as a template, and showed efficient removal of sulfonated lignite from oilfield wastewater. The adsorption of lignite on the biomorphic Mg-Al metal oxides followed Langmuir adsorption model and pseudo-second-order rate equation, indicating a spontaneous, endothermic, and thermodynamically feasible process.
