Summary: This article proposes a three-level inverter topology for nine-phase PPMIM drives using two identical voltage profile coils of a four-pole stator winding. By exciting 18 IVPCs with 18 two-switch inverter legs, the requirement of the dc-link magnitude is reduced by 50%. The drive is modulated with carrier-based three-phase space vector pulsewidth modulation to enhance linear modulation range.
