Characterization of Kinesin Family Member 2C as a Proto-Oncogene in Cervical Cancer

Jing Yang et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzed the characteristics of KIF2C in various cancers and found that it was highly expressed and correlated with poor prognosis. It particularly played a significant role in cervical cancer, promoting cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. It was also associated with the activation of the p53 signaling pathway. These findings suggest KIF2C as a potential therapeutic target for cervical cancer.

Down regulated oncogene KIF2C inhibits growth, invasion, and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma through the Ras/MAPK signaling pathway and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition

Shutian Mo et al.

Summary: Kinesin family member 2C (KIF2C) is overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues and associated with tumor histologic grade, pathology stage, and poor prognosis. KIF2C shows high diagnostic efficacy in diagnosing HCC (>90%). KIF2C promotes HCC invasion and metastasis through activation of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

FLG Gene Mutation Up-regulates the Abnormal Tumor Immune Response and Promotes the Progression of Prostate Cancer

Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that FLG gene has a high mutation frequency in prostate cancer and is associated with increased TMB, up-regulation of abnormal tumor immune response, and accelerated tumor progression. Therefore, FLG may serve as a biomarker to predict abnormal immune response and provide a therapeutic target for immunotherapy in the treatment of prostate cancer.

KIF2C: a novel link between Wnt/β-catenin and mTORC1 signaling in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma

Shi Wei et al.

Summary: This study showed that KIF2C is significantly upregulated in HCC and associated with poor prognosis. Functional assays revealed that KIF2C promotes HCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis. Mechanistically, the study identified TBC1D7 as a binding partner of KIF2C, disrupting TSC complex formation and enhancing mTORC1 signaling.

TBX15/miR-152/KIF2C pathway regulates breast cancer doxorubicin resistance via promoting PKM2 ubiquitination

Cheng-Fei Jiang et al.

Summary: TBX15 plays a role in reversing doxorubicin resistance in breast cancer by regulating the miR-152/KIF2C axis, which affects PKM2 ubiquitination and stability, ultimately reducing DOX resistance.

Activation of the TGF-131/Smad signaling by KIF2C contributes to the malignant phenotype of thyroid carcinoma cells

Qiuyu Lin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that KIF2C is upregulated in thyroid carcinoma cell lines and promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. This is achieved through the activation of the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway. Inhibition of this pathway attenuates the effects of KIF2C overexpression on the malignant phenotype of thyroid carcinoma cells.

Role of Methylation in Pro- and Anti-Cancer Immunity

Ali Mehdi et al.

Summary: Epigenetic mechanisms, particularly DNA and RNA methylation, play a crucial role in regulating immune responses, including in cancer and non-cancer contexts. Understanding the complex transcriptional regulation modulating differentiation and function of immune cells may lead to the identification of therapeutic targets aimed at targeting DNA and RNA methylation to reduce cancer-associated morbidity and mortality.

Gut microbial metabolites facilitate anticancer therapy efficacy by modulating cytotoxic CD8+ T cell immunity

Yao He et al.

Summary: Recent studies suggest that gut microbial metabolite butyrate can enhance the efficacy of oxaliplatin by modulation of CD8(+) T cell immunity through an ID2-dependent mechanism. This finding has important implications for cancer therapy in patients responding to oxaliplatin.

Summary: The study demonstrates high expression of KIF2C in human HCC tissues and its association with HCC prognosis, as well as clinical pathological characteristics. Knockdown of KIF2C inhibits the proliferation of HCC cells in vitro and suppresses tumor growth in a xenograft mouse model, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for HCC treatment.

Deciphering the genetic code of DNA methylation

Mengchi Wang et al.

Summary: DNA methylation plays crucial roles in biological processes and diseases, with recent studies uncovering cis-acting DNA elements that regulate locus-specific DNA methylation. This regulation involves transcription factors, histone modification, and DNA secondary structures. Furthermore, research on DNA motifs that regulate DNA methylation suggests potential applications in diagnosis and prognosis.
