GDF15 promotes prostate cancer bone metastasis and colonization through osteoblastic CCL2 and RANKL activation

Jawed Akhtar Siddiqui et al.

Summary: This study suggests that growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF15) plays a critical role in the modulation of bone microenvironment by prostate cancer (PCa). GDF15 promotes bone metastases and facilitates PCa growth in bone by activating osteoblasts and recruiting osteomacs.

Summary: This study aimed to design a weighted co-expression network and a BC prognosis evaluation system based on EMT-related genes, providing a basis for assessing the prognosis risk of MBC spreading to the bone. The results of this study screened hub genes, explored a prognostic model, and studied immune infiltration patterns of MBC, offering insights into the molecular mechanisms of MBC spread and patient survival prediction.

CD8+ T cells from experimental in situ breast carcinoma interfere with bone homeostasis

Ana Carolina Monteiro et al.

Summary: Our study shows the impact of immune cells primed by breast primary tumor cells on the bone microenvironment before bone colonization. Specifically, RANKL(+) CD4(+) T cells and dendritic cells play crucial roles in pre-metastatic niche formation and osteolytic profile induced by metastatic tumors. Additionally, non-metastatic tumor cells can modify distant sites like the bone, affecting osteoclasts and osteoblasts activities, highlighting the opposing roles of CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cell subtypes in breast cancer progression and bone metastases establishment.
