Ternary Transition Metal Dichalcogenides for High Power Vector Dissipative Soliton Ultrafast Fiber Laser

Lu Li et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the application of NbxRe(1-x)S2 nanosheets in ultrafast photonics. By incorporating the NbxRe(1-x)S2-microfiber saturable absorber into a net positive dispersion Er-doped fiber laser cavity, stable dissipative soliton pulses were generated. The NbxRe(1-x)S2-based mode-locked fiber laser demonstrated superior comprehensive performance compared to previous works based on 2D materials-based saturable absorbers.

All fiber temperature sensor based light polarization measurement utilizing graphene coated tapered fiber

Zian Cheak Tiu et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates all fiber temperature measurement based on change of light polarization using tapered fiber coated with graphene. The proposed temperature sensor can measure temperature up to 250 degrees C and has a sensitivity of 0.48 degrees/degrees C, making it beneficial for future IoT applications. The change of refractive index in the coated tapered fiber due to surrounding heat absorption by graphene modifies the injected light polarization, allowing for accurate temperature measurement.
