Calcium dobesilate alleviates renal dysfunction and inflammation by targeting nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury

Zhijuan Xie et al.

Summary: This study investigated the antioxidant effect and potential mechanism of calcium dobesilate (CaD) in lipopolysaccharide-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) in mice. The results showed that CaD alleviated renal dysfunction and kidney injury, reduced oxidative stress and inflammation, and inhibited apoptosis through targeting NF-kappa B signaling pathway.

Quercetin alleviates chronic renal failure by targeting the PI3k/Akt pathway

Haitao Tu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the significant therapeutic effect of Quercetin on chronic renal failure (CRF) by regulating the PI3K/Akt pathway to reduce cell apoptosis, water retention, and toxin accumulation. Quercetin, as the main ingredient of SQJZJN, may minimize renal fibrosis and apoptosis in CRF rats through targeting PIK3R1.

Identification and verification of vascular cell adhesion protein 1 as an immune-related hub gene associated with the tubulointerstitial injury in diabetic kidney disease

Yan Jia et al.

Summary: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a major cause of chronic kidney disease, with tubulointerstitial injury and inflammation playing critical roles. The study identified increased expression of VCAM1 in renal tubular cells and its correlation with pyroptosis and immune cell infiltration, suggesting a potential mechanism for fibrosis development in DKD. The FDA-approved drug disulfiram may be effective in targeting tubular pyroptosis and VCAM1 expression to improve fibrosis in DKD.
