Evaluating Performance of EEG Data-Driven Machine Learning for Traumatic Brain Injury Classification

Nicolas Vivaldi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of commonly used supervised machine learning algorithms in classifying patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) history from those with stroke history and/or normal EEG. Linear discriminant analysis and support vector machine models consistently performed well in both two-class and three-class classification. The EEG data-driven machine learning was suggested to be a useful tool for TBI classification and potentially provide specificity to separate different neurological conditions.

Electroencephalography resting-state networks in people with Stroke

Dylan B. Snyder et al.

Summary: After stroke, there is a decrease in cortical activity and connectivity, especially in the alpha and beta bands, while connectivity in the gamma band increases. Asymmetries in cortical activity, driven by a reduction in the lesioned hemisphere, are also observed after stroke.

Detection of Error-Related Potentials in Stroke Patients from EEG Using an Artificial Neural Network

Nayab Usama et al.

Summary: This study aimed to classify Error-related potentials (ErrPs) in individuals with stroke and compare different classification methods and calibration schemes. The results showed that using waveform features can improve classifier performance and interpretability, but specific calibration is needed for optimal decoding of ErrPs.

Radiomics in Stroke Neuroimaging: Techniques, Applications, and Challenges

Qian Chen et al.

Summary: Stroke is a major cause of disability and mortality globally, with neuroimaging playing a crucial role in guiding treatment decisions. Radiomics, a method of converting visual image information into quantitative features, has shown promise in stroke research for tasks such as diagnosis, prediction, and evaluation. Challenges remain in implementing radiomics in routine practice, but future research directions are being explored to further advance personalized precision medicine in stroke management.
