Shear wave elastography accurately detects chronic changes in renal histopathology

Sook Sam Leong et al.

Summary: The study found that shear wave elastography can accurately detect different parts of chronic renal damage, with results significantly correlated with tubulointerstitial score and glomerular score, providing important references for the diagnosis and treatment of CKD.

Technical Performance of Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse Imaging for Measuring Renal Parenchymal Stiffness A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Jisun Hwang et al.

Summary: ARFI-based SWE techniques demonstrate good technical performance for measuring renal parenchymal stiffness, with moderate to good interobserver and intraobserver agreement. In transplanted kidneys, the selection of region of interest is a significant factor influencing interobserver agreement.

Renal elastography measurements in children with acute glomerulonephritis

Burak Yogurtcuoglu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare ARFI-e values in children with AGN and healthy children to determine a cut-off point for diagnosis. The MEVs in all zones were significantly higher in the patient group. Cut-off values were determined to predict AGN with high sensitivity and specificity. ARFI-e can be a non-invasive, easily applicable method for early AGN diagnosis.

Renal Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse Elastography in Hypertensive Nephroangiosclerosis Patients

Alexandru Caraba et al.

Summary: This study investigated renal stiffness in hypertensive nephroangiosclerosis patients and found significant correlations between renal stiffness and urinary albumin/creatinine ratio, estimated glomerular filtration rate, and intrarenal resistive index. Sonoelastography offers a new diagnosis method for detecting intrarenal lesions associated with essential hypertension.

Two-Dimensional Shear-Wave Elastography for Kidney Stiffness Assessment

Iulia Grosu et al.

Summary: This study utilized bidimensional shear-wave elastography to measure kidney shear-wave velocity (KSWV) for renal assessment and prediction of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The results showed significantly lower KSWV values in CKD patients compared to healthy volunteers, with a cutoff value of below 1.47 m/s predicting the presence of CKD with good sensitivity and specificity. Moreover, KSWV tended to decrease with CKD progression.
