Custom-Molded Offloading Footwear Effectively Prevents Recurrence and Amputation, and Lowers Mortality Rates in High-Risk Diabetic Foot Patients: A Multicenter, Prospective Observational Study

Xi Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the clinical outcomes of custom-molded offloading footwear were explored in patients with high-risk diabetic feet. The results showed that patient adherence is crucial for the efficacy of these offloading devices, as higher adherence was associated with lower rates of recurrence, amputation, and death.

An enhanced fast non-dominated solution sorting genetic algorithm for multi-objective problems

Wu Deng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an enhanced fast NSGA-II algorithm (ASDNSGA-II) for solving multi-modal multi-objective optimization problems. By using a special congestion strategy and adaptive crossover strategy, ASDNSGA-II improves the distribution and convergence of solutions. Experimental results show that ASDNSGA-II can effectively find the global Pareto solution set and improve the distribution and convergence of solutions.

Malaria detection using deep residual networks with mobile microscopy

P. A. Pattanaik et al.

Summary: Automatic segmentation of erythrocytes in microscopic blood smear phone images is an important step in malaria identification. To address the challenges posed by experts scarcity and low image quality, the authors propose an efficient multi-magnification deep residual neural network (MM-ResNet) that can automatically classify infected and non-infected cells. Experimental results show that the MM-ResNet achieves similar or higher accuracy compared to baseline architectures.

Machine learning model for predicting malaria using clinical information

You Won Lee et al.

Summary: This study developed a machine learning model for malaria diagnosis using patient information, with random forest performing best in the solely parasitic disease dataset, and gradient boosting performing best in the total dataset. The synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) proved to be effective in improving model performance, with nationality identified as the most important feature in predicting malaria for imbalanced data.
