Multiple interval thixotropic test (miTT)-an advanced tool for the rheological characterization of emulsions and other colloidal systems

Florian J. Stadler et al.

Summary: The 3iTT protocol and multiple interval thixotropic test protocol (miTT) are used to monitor changes in material behavior, with G' and G showing sensitivity to shear rate variations. Pickering emulsions with graphene oxide exhibit reversible changes in G' and G.

Review of rheological behaviour of sewage sludge and its importance in the management of wastewater treatment plants

M. C. Collivignarelli et al.

Summary: The proper setup and measurement of the rheological behavior of sewage sludge are crucial for optimizing the performance of wastewater treatment plants and reducing costs. Non-Newtonian fluid models like Bingham and Ostwald are commonly used to study the flow behavior of sludge in WWTPs.

Strong minimization of biological sludge production and enhancement of phosphorus bioavailability with a thermophilic biological fluidized bed reactor

Maria Cristina Collivignarelli et al.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of using a thermophilic biological fluidized bed reactor to treat pre-thickened biological sewage sludge, which showed a significant reduction in sludge and substantial cost-saving potential compared to current methods.

Performance of Full-Scale Thermophilic Membrane Bioreactor and Assessment of the Effect of the Aqueous Residue on Mesophilic Biological Activity

Maria Cristina Collivignarelli et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of one of the two full-scale thermophilic membrane bioreactors in Italy, showing that removal yields on chemical pollutants increased with input load, while sludge production remained low during stability. Oxygen uptake rate tests excluded the acute inhibition of mesophilic biomass by aqueous residues, except for certain substrates. Respirometric tests proved to be a valuable tool for assessing the acute effects of ThMBR's aqueous residues on mesophilic biomass.
