Synergistic effect of nanoionic destabilization and partial dehydrogenation for enhanced ionic conductivity in MBH4-C60 (M = Li+, Na+) nanocomposites

Jovy Ann Santos et al.

Summary: In this study, the electrochemical properties of MBH4-C-60 nanocomposites were evaluated for potential use as a solid-state electrolyte in alkali-ion batteries. The addition of C-60 and partial dehydrogenation led to a significant increase in ionic conductivity for MBH4, with the LiBH4-C-60 nanocomposite successfully paired with various anodes and cathodes while the NaBH4-C-60 nanocomposite showed a substantial increase in ionic conductivity compared to pure NaBH4.

Iodine-Substituted Lithium/Sodium closo-Decaborates: Syntheses, Characterization, and Solid-State Ionic Conductivity

Shouhu Li et al.

Summary: Solid-state electrolytes based on closo-decaborates are of interest due to their impressive room-temperature ionic conductivity, stability, and flexibility. Iodine substitution in closo-decaborates was found to increase thermal decomposition temperature. Li-2[B10I10] exhibits enhanced ionic conductivity compared to the parent compound, showing potential for high-temperature battery applications.

Summary: Complex hydrides show high ionic conductivities and are suitable for solid electrolytes in all-solid-state batteries. Research indicates that the reorientational motion of anions plays a crucial role in high cation diffusion, and an entropy-driven order-disorder phase transition is closely related to anion reorientation.
