Yellow-Emissive Carbon Dots with High Solid-State Photoluminescence

Jiazhuang Guo et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis, properties, and potential applications of yellow-emissive carbon dots (Y-CDs) with high photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY). Y-CDs were prepared through solvothermal treatment and column chromatography, and exhibited excitation-independent PL emission with a high PL QY of 92%. Various characterizations and calculations were conducted to confirm the structure of Y-CDs, and Y-CD films with high PL brightness were fabricated.

Orange/red dual-emissive boron- and nitrogen-codoped carbon dots for wash-free and selective staining of lipid droplets in live cells

Cong She et al.

Summary: In this study, boron-and nitrogen-codoped carbon dots (BNCDs) were prepared using a solvent-free carbonization method. The BNCDs exhibited good biocompatibility, long-wavelength fluorescence emission, and excitation wavelength-independent fluorescence emission. They could be used for wash-free lipid droplet (LD) imaging and effectively track the dynamic changes of LDs in live animal cells. This work provides an ideal probe for nondestructively visualizing LDs and has implications for LD-related metabolism and diseases.

One-pot synthesis of concentration and excitation dual-dependency truly full-color photoluminescence carbon dots

Chen Wei et al.

Summary: This paper describes a kind of truly full-color photoluminescence CDs prepared by hydrothermally heating citric acid and formamide. The CDs have three fluorescent centers and the color can be regulated by changing excitation wavelengths or CDs concentrations. The full-color PL behavior of the CDs is inherited and conserved in the solid polymer matrix, enabling the fabrication of multicolor CDs/polymer films and LEDs.
