Direct Synthesis of Sulfur-Decorating PAMAM Dendrimer/Mesoporous Silica for Enhanced Hg(II) and Cd(II) Adsorption

Liping Luan et al.

Summary: Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer-based adsorbents have been developed for efficient removal of metal ions. However, the traditional fabrication method resulted in adsorbents with low density, uneven distribution, pore blocking, and reduced adsorption performance. In this study, methylisothiocyanate decorated PAMAM dendrimer/mesoporous silica composites were synthesized, demonstrating enhanced adsorption properties for Hg(II) and Cd(II) compared to traditionally prepared adsorbents. The adsorbents also exhibited excellent selective adsorption and regeneration properties.
