Dual-Wavelength Time-Resolved Photoluminescence Study of CdSe$_\text{x}$Te$_\text{1-x}$ Surface Passivation via Mg$_\text{y}$Zn$_\text{1-y}$O and Al$_\text{2}$O$_\text{3}$

Deborah McGott et al.

Summary: Determining major voltage losses in CdTe-based photovoltaics is crucial, with this study finding that a Se ratio of x = 0.2 is necessary for improving carrier lifetime in the bulk. The investigation also revealed evidence of trapping at the Mg$_\text{y}$Zn$_\text{1-y}$O/CdSe$_\text{x}$Te$_\text{1-x}$ interface, indicating further work is needed for proper passivation.

Roll-To-Roll Friendly Solution-Processing of Ultrathin, Sintered CdTe Nanocrystal Photovoltaics

J. Matthew Kurley et al.

Summary: The study systematically introduces and investigates the R2R-friendly modifications in the fabrication of ultrathin, sintered CdTe nanocrystal solar cells using solution-processed materials. The impact of each modification on the CdTe nanostructure and solar cell performance was studied independently and then combined into an integrated process, resulting in devices with improved power conversion efficiency and performance. These advances in R2R-friendly techniques reduce barriers for large-scale manufacturing of low-cost solar cells on flexible or curved substrates.
