New insights into the interplay between long non-coding RNAs and RNA-binding proteins in cancer

Zi-Ting Yao et al.

Summary: With the development of proteomics and epigenetics, the discovery of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) and their interaction with long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has garnered increasing attention. These interactions play a crucial role in cancer progression and offer new insights for cancer drug discovery. This review provides a comprehensive discussion on the lncRNA-RBP interaction network, including the regulation of lncRNA localization, modification, stability, and activity by RBPs, as well as the effects of RBPs on lncRNA stability, transport, transcription, and localization. Furthermore, the regulation and influence of these interactions on cancer development-related factors, such as N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification of lncRNAs, are explored, along with a summary of therapeutic strategies that target the lncRNA-RBP interaction network.

LncRNA MIR155HG Promotes Temozolomide Resistance by Activating the Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway Via Binding to PTBP1 in Glioma

Xin He et al.

Summary: The study revealed that high expression of MIR155HG in glioma patients is associated with poor prognosis, while downregulation of MIR155HG promotes sensitivity to TMZ and overexpression of MIR155HG reverses this effect. Furthermore, PTBP1 was identified to bind with MIR155HG and regulate TMZ resistance, showing that knockdown of MIR155HG increases glioma sensitivity by inhibiting the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway activation via downregulating PTBP1.

Landscape analysis of lncRNAs shows that DDX11-AS1 promotes cell-cycle progression in liver cancer through the PARP1/p53 axis

Mengxiang Xu et al.

Summary: DDX11-AS1 upregulation through demethylation is associated with poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma. Mechanistically, DDX11-AS1 interacts with PARP1 to attenuate its binding to p53, resulting in downregulated p53 expression and inhibition of downstream gene transcription, ultimately promoting liver cancer growth.

Silenced lncRNA DDX11-AS1 or up-regulated microRNA-34a-3p inhibits malignant phenotypes of hepatocellular carcinoma cells via suppression of TRAF5

Gangqiang Ding et al.

Summary: The study investigated the regulatory mechanism of DDX11-AS1-mediated miR-34a-3p/TRAF5 axis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. Results showed that downregulating DDX11-AS1 or upregulating miR-34a-3p inhibited HCC cell growth via elevation of TRAF5. Silencing TRAF5 or elevating miR-34a-3p expression mitigated the promotion of tumor growth by upregulated DDX11-AS1 in HCC cells. This research provides insights for potential early diagnostic markers for HCC patients.

Long non-coding RNA DDX11-AS1 promotes esophageal carcinoma cell proliferation and migration through regulating the miR-514b-3p/RBX1 axis

Chao Wu et al.

Summary: Esophageal carcinoma is a highly aggressive malignancy with limited treatment options, and the study of long non-coding RNA has shown potential in developing novel therapeutic strategies. Silencing specific long non-coding RNA may inhibit the progression of esophageal carcinoma and serve as a theoretical basis for future treatments.
