Summary: This study aimed to determine the sedimentary provenance and paleodrainage patterns of mudstones and sandstones from the Upper Jurassic Rankin Formation in the Flemish Pass Basin and Central Ridge offshore Newfoundland. Analysis of heavy minerals, whole-rock geochemistry, and detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology from cores and cuttings revealed diverse sources for the sedimentary units in the area, with significant zircon recycling and a range of detrital zircon U-Pb ages indicating contributions from different regions.
