Identification, expression patterns and RNA interference of Capa peptide receptors in Dendroctonus armandi larvae under cold

Danyang Fu et al.

Summary: The study revealed the importance of Capa peptide receptors in cold stress responses in Dendroctonus armandi, showing a reverse interaction with aquaporins. This contributes to understanding the mechanism of neuropeptide regulation of cold tolerance and the adaptive evolution of Dendroctonus armandi in the ecological environment of the Qinling Mountains.

Function of mevalonate pathway genes in the synthesis of frontalin in Chinese white pine beetle, Dendroctonus armandi (curculionidae: Scolytinae)

Yaya Sun et al.

Summary: The study showed that the expression levels of mevalonate pathway genes in male Chinese white pine beetles were upregulated after phloem feeding and JHIII treatment, with paired males exhibiting higher levels than solitary males. Additionally, males had higher expression levels compared to females. Knockdown of mevalonate pathway genes using RNAi effectively reduced gene expression and frontalin production, with HMGR or HMGS genes showing the most significant reduction in frontalin synthesis.
