Oxygenation Responses While Wearing the Elevation Training Mask During an Incremental Cycling Test

Salvador Romero-Arenas et al.

Summary: This study assessed the effects of wearing the Elevation Training Mask (ETM) during an incremental cycling test. It was found that wearing the ETM resulted in reduced performance, lower blood lactate levels, and decreased arterial oxygen saturation. However, heart rate, perceived exertion, and muscle oxygenation showed no significant changes between the mask-wearing and control conditions.

Summary: Although the WHBM and HV showed significant physiological effects on SpO(2) and VCO2 levels, a single WHBM session did not lead to improved anaerobic performance in repeated sprinting exercise.
