Effects of Pterostilbene on Diabetes, Liver Steatosis and Serum Lipids

Saioa Gomez-Zorita et al.

Summary: Pterostilbene, a phenolic compound derived from resveratrol, has shown beneficial effects on diabetes, liver steatosis and dyslipidemia in animal models. The mechanisms of action include increased liver glycogen content, recovery of pancreatic islet architecture, decreased inflammation, and reduction in oxidative stress. Pterostilbene also effectively reduces cholesterol levels and increases HDL-cholesterol in animal models of dyslipidemia.

NLRP3 inflammasome blocked the glycolytic pathway via targeting to PKLR in arsenic-induced hepatic insulin resistance

Jingyuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Arsenic exposure causes hepatic insulin resistance by activating NLRP3 inflammasome and inhibiting glycolysis pathway. NLRP3 inflammasome binds to PKLR, leading to the development of insulin resistance in the liver.

MondoA-Thioredoxin-Interacting Protein Axis Maintains Regulatory T-Cell Identity and Function in Colorectal Cancer Microenvironment

Ying Lu et al.

Summary: In colorectal cancer, intratumoral regulatory T cells (Tregs) exhibit low activity of the MondoA-thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) axis and increased glucose uptake. While MondoA-deficient Tregs promoted Th1 responses in a subcutaneous colorectal cancer model, Treg-specific MondoA knockout mice were more susceptible to colorectal cancer induction.
