Is Brain Dynamics Preserved in the EEG After Automated Artifact Removal? A Validation of the Fingerprint Method and the Automatic Removal of Cardiac Interference Approach Based on Microstate Analysis

Gabriella Tamburro et al.

Summary: This study confirms that the optimized fingerprint method and ARCI approach can effectively remove physiological artifacts from EEG recordings while preserving global brain dynamics. Microstate analysis showed no significant differences between denoised EEG signals processed manually or automatically, demonstrating the reliability and consistency of the automated denoising procedure. These results suggest a promising new approach for evaluating EEG denoising methods by assessing their impact on brain dynamics.
