Intranasal oxytocin may help maintain romantic bonds by decreasing jealousy evoked by either imagined or real partner infidelity

Xiaoxiao Zheng et al.

Summary: This study found that intranasal oxytocin can reduce romantic jealousy and arousal caused by imagined partner infidelity in both males and females. During the Cyberball game, oxytocin also decreased jealousy and arousal levels, reduced negative emotions towards stranger players, especially the rival one, and led to decreased negative and increased positive feelings while playing the game.
