Cancer health disparities in racial/ethnic minorities in the United States

Valentina A. Zavala et al.

Summary: There are significant disparities in cancer incidence and outcomes by race/ethnicity, influenced by structural, socioeconomic, socio-environmental, behavioural, and biological factors. Research has mainly focused on populations of European origin, with limitations in clinical and genetic data potentially widening health disparities.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy in African American cancer survivors: Risk factors and quality of life outcomes

Matthew R. Trendowski et al.

Summary: This study focused on identifying non-genetic risk factors and comorbidities associated with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in African American cancer survivors. The results showed that hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, history of depression, diabetes, and higher BMI were positively associated with CIPN, while alcohol consumption and tobacco use did not increase CIPN risk. The study also found that CIPN status was significantly associated with decreased quality of life and mood in African American cancer survivors.
