Highly efficient activation of peroxymonosulfate by MOF-derived CoP/CoOx heterostructured nanoparticles for the degradation of tetracycline

Yingying Liu et al.

Summary: Introducing oxygen vacancies and enhancing charge transfer efficiency are effective strategies to improve the capability of catalysts in activating peroxymonosulfate. A reliable partial phosphidation method was used to synthesize CoP/CoOx nanoparticles with abundant oxygen vacancies and significantly enhanced charge transfer efficiency, leading to superior catalytic performance in tetracycline degradation. The synergy between oxygen vacancies and high charge transfer efficiency contributes to the excellent catalytic performance of CoP/CoOx in generating more active oxygen species.

Halloysite-Based Nanorockets with Light-Enhanced Self-Propulsion for Efficient Water Remediation

Jian Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports on halloysite-based tubular nanorockets with chemical-/light-controlled self-propulsion and on-demand acceleration in velocity. The nanorockets achieve a higher velocity under visible light irradiation and can be wirelessly modulated by adjusting light intensity and H2O2 concentration. The synergistic coupling of photocatalysis and advanced oxidation enables the nanorockets to efficiently remediate wastewater and degrade organic pollutants.

High efficiency heterogeneous Fenton-like catalyst biochar modified CuFeO2 for the degradation of tetracycline: Economical synthesis, catalytic performance and mechanism

Shuaishuai Xin et al.

Summary: The CuFeO2/BC catalyst showed higher catalytic activity for tetracycline degradation due to better particle dispersion and larger surface area, with optimal conditions being CuFeO2/BC-1.0, H2O2 concentration of 57.63 mM, and pH 6.27. Through experiments, it was demonstrated that CuFeO2/BC-1.0 has excellent reusability and stability.

Dual-stimuli-responsive CuS-based micromotors for efficient photo-Fenton degradation of antibiotics

Enhui Ma et al.

Summary: Self-propelled CuS-based micromotors have been developed as active heterogeneous catalysts for efficient photo-Fenton degradation of antibiotics, offering advantages such as easy recycling, absence of secondary pollution risks, and high degradation efficiency. These micromotors achieve efficient degradation through self-induced intensification of mass transfer and microbubble generation, while their dual-stimuli-responsiveness allows for multiple propulsion and guidance modes in different systems. Efficient photothermal effect of CuS enables collective phototactic motion toward light, while magnetic responsiveness facilitates recovery and collection of micromotors.

Singlet oxygen-dominated activation of peroxymonosulfate by passion fruit shell derived biochar for catalytic degradation of tetracycline through a non-radical oxidation pathway

Yi Hu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the pyrolysis temperature can influence the efficiency of passion fruit shell derived biochar (PFSC) for activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to degrade tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), with the PFSC-900/PMS system showing high catalytic performance mainly due to the non-free radical reaction pathway. This research not only showcases biochar as an efficient catalyst for PMS activation, but also provides a value-added reuse pathway for passion fruit shells.

Lixia Guo et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of morphology on the sonophotocatalytic capability in heterojunction nanoarrays by synthesizing sulfide ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanorod arrays and etching them into ZnO/ZnS nanotubes. The enhanced capability was successfully achieved by coupling effect of enhanced piezoelectric field and reduced electron-hole pairs recombination, as proven through electron spin resonance test and numerical simulations.
