Induction of a piezo-potential improves photocatalytic hydrogen production over ZnO/ZnS/MoS2 Heterostructures

Guan-Chi Lee et al.

Summary: This study applied a piezo-potential to ZnO/ZnS/MoS2 heterostructures to enhance the separation of photoexcited electrons and holes, resulting in increased production of H2. The heterostructures were synthesized through hydrothermal synthesis, and the H2 production varied with the different mixing ratios of ZnO and MoS2. When a piezopotential was introduced through ultrasonication during the photocatalytic reaction, the rate of H2 production significantly increased due to band tilting and improved charge transfer.

Metal-Organic Frameworks for Photo/Electrocatalysis

Junkuo Gao et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) composed of metal clusters/ions and organic ligands are ideal materials for photo/electrocatalysis due to their large surface areas, high porosity, and tunable optical and electronic structures. Recent advances in MOF-based photo/electrocatalysts, including pristine MOFs, MOF composites, and MOF derivatives, as well as novel strategies to improve performance have been summarized. The current challenges and future development of MOFs for photo/electrocatalysis are also discussed and outlined.
