Forecast of rainfall distribution based on fixed sliding window long short-term memory

Chengcheng Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a deep-learning-based LSTM model is developed for the first time to forecast monthly rainfall data and compared with the RF model. The results show that the LSTM model outperforms the RF model in rainfall forecasting at both stations, with reasonable accuracy under any global climatic conditions.

A nonlinear autoregressive exogenous (NARX) model to predict nitrate concentration in rivers

Fabio Di Nunno et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the accuracy of nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs neural networks in predicting nitrate plus nitrite concentrations in rivers. The inclusion of factors such as water discharge, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and specific conductance as exogenous inputs improves the prediction accuracy. The findings are applicable for both short- and long-term predictions.

Babak Mohammadi et al.

Summary: This study focused on developing hybrid time series models to estimate air temperature parameters more accurately, with statistical metrics used to evaluate model performance. The results showed that the hybrid models outperformed the single models, and the combination of MLP and AR-ARCH models can provide more accurate temperature estimations. Additionally, temperature data from nearby stations can be utilized to predict the temperatures at desired locations.
