QNMs of branes, BHs and fuzzballs from quantum SW geometries

Massimo Bianchi et al.

Summary: Quantum Normal Modes (QNMs) govern the linear response to perturbations of black holes, D-branes, and fuzzballs, as well as the gravitational wave signals in the ring-down phase of binary mergers. There is a remarkable connection between QNMs of neutral black holes in 4 dimensions and quantum Seiberg-Witten geometries describing the dynamics of N=2 Super Yang-Mills (SYM) theories. By extending the gauge/gravity dictionary, a wide range of gravity backgrounds related to N=2 SYM with a single SU(2) gauge group and fundamental matter are explored, including charged and rotating black holes, D3-branes, D1D5 'circular' fuzzballs, and smooth horizonless geometries. All examples share the common feature of photon-spheres associated with degenerations of classical elliptic Seiberg-Witten geometries, where a cycle pinches to zero size. Quantum effects resolve the singular geometry and result in a spectrum of quantized energies labeled by the overtone number n.

More on the SW-QNM correspondence

Massimo Bianchi et al.

Summary: We compute the spectrum of quasi-normal modes of asymptotically flat Kerr Newman black holes using the correspondence between gravitational perturbations and quantum Seiberg-Witten curves. We establish detailed gauge/gravity dictionaries for a large class of black holes, D-branes, and fuzzballs in diverse dimensions. The QNM frequencies obtained from the quantum periods of SU(2) N = 2 SYM are compared against numerical results, WKB approximation, and geodetic motion, showing remarkable agreement.

Exact WKB methods in SU(2) Nf=1

Alba Grassi et al.

Summary: We study in detail the Schrodinger equation corresponding to the four dimensional SU(2) N = 2 SQCD theory with one flavour. We calculate the Voros symbols, or quantum periods, in four different ways and find good agreement. We also study the exact quantization condition for the spectrum and explore the relationship between singularities of the Borel transformed WKB series and BPS states.

Exact solution of Kerr black hole perturbations via CFT2 and instanton counting: Greybody factor, quasinormal modes, and Love numbers

Giulio Bonelli et al.

Summary: In this paper, we obtain explicit expressions for the finite frequency greybody factor, quasinormal modes, and Love numbers of Kerr black holes by calculating the exact connection coefficients of the radial and angular parts of the Teukolsky equation. The obtained results are consistent with existing literature in the relevant approximation limits. The method used in this study can be extended to solve the linearized Einstein equation in other interesting gravitational backgrounds.

1/ε problem in resurgence

Naohisa Sueishi

Summary: The study considers the divergent behavior of the ground-state energy in quantum mechanics, using semi-classical expansion and the resurgence technique to calculate. Including multi-complex bions and multi-bounce contributions solves this problem, highlighting the importance of summing all possible saddle-point contributions and the relationship between different mathematical approximations.

ODE/IM correspondence for affine Lie algebras: a numerical approach

Katsushi Ito et al.

Summary: In this study, the ODE/IM correspondence for untwisted affine Lie algebras associated with simple Lie algebras was investigated numerically, revealing that Q-functions in integrable models are expressed as the inner product of solutions of the dual linear problem. The Cheng's algorithm was used to efficiently determine the zeros of the Q-function, which are known to provide solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations. The results from numerical calculations were found to agree with those obtained from non-linear integral equations for simply-laced affine Lie algebras, including the exceptional type.

Quantum spin systems and supersymmetric gauge theories. Part I

Norton Lee et al.

Summary: By exploiting the relation between supersymmetric gauge theories and quantum spin systems, an explicit formula for the Jost function of the N site sl(2)X X X spin chain and the SLN Gaudin system has been found. Additionally, relationships between the spin chain commuting Hamiltonians and the twisted chiral ring of gauge theory have been established using non-perturbative Dyson-Schwinger equations. The research also explores the chamber dependence of the supersymmetric partition function and the expectation value of surface defects, offering new evidence for the AGT conjecture.

Intersecting defects in gauge theory, quantum spin chains, and Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations

Saebyeok Jeong et al.

Summary: In this study, the correlation function of two intersecting half-BPS surface defects in four-dimensional N = 2 supersymmetric SU(N) gauge theory with 2N fundamental hypermultiplets is investigated. It is shown to satisfy a difference equation, known as the fractional quantum T-Q relation. The connection between the correlator and a state of the XXX sl(2) spin chain of N Heisenberg-Weyl modules over Y (sl(2)) is also identified.

Quantum periods and TBA equations for N=2 SU(2) Nf=2 SQCD with flavor symmetry

Keita Imaizumi

Summary: The study applies exact WKB analysis to the quantum Seiberg-Witten curve of 4-dimensional N= 2 SU(2) N-f = 2 SQCD with flavor symmetry. The discontinuity and asymptotic behavior of quantum periods define a Riemann-Hilbert problem, for which the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) equations are derived as a solution. The effective central charge of the underlying CFT is computed, showing proportionality to the one-loop beta function of the SQCD.

Abelianisation of logarithmic sl2-connections

Nikita Nikolaev

Summary: The paper establishes a functorial correspondence between logarithmic sl(2)-connections on a curve X with fixed generic residues and abelian logarithmic connections on an appropriate spectral double cover pi : Sigma -> X. The key lies in the construction of a certain canonical cocycle valued in the automorphisms of the direct image functor pi(*).

On the quantization of Seiberg-Witten geometry

Nathan Haouzi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a double quantization of four-dimensional N=2 Seiberg-Witten geometry, applicable to various gauge groups and matter content, constructed by computing the instanton partition function of the gauge theory in the Omega background. The quantization parameters of the construction are identified as the two parameters of the Omega background, and the Seiberg-Witten curve of each theory is recovered in the flat space limit.
