Supersymmetric alignment models for (g-2)μ

Yuichiro Nakai et al.

Summary: The article discusses how hierarchical masses of quarks and leptons are addressed by imposing horizontal symmetries and how the same symmetries play a role in suppressing flavor violating processes in supersymmetric models. By combining the idea of spontaneous CP violation to control contributions to electric dipole moments (EDMs), the mass scale of supersymmetric particles can be lowered. Furthermore, models with two U(1) symmetries are found to provide a viable solution to the muon g - 2 anomaly, with future electron EDM experiments potentially probing the parameter space to explain the anomaly.

Flavor constraints for a vector-like quark of Nelson-Barr type

A. L. Cherchiglia et al.

Summary: Through a global fit analysis on the flavor constraints of a NB-type VLQ, we found that the allowed parameter space for the VLQ Yukawa couplings and the mixing to the SM are confined to a region much smaller than in the generic case, making the NB case falsifiable in principle.

Axion quality from superconformal dynamics

Yuichiro Nakai et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the possibility of superconformal dynamics inducing the emergence of a global U(1)(PQ) symmetry, solving the strong CP problem through the axion. The theory suggests that fields spontaneously breaking the U(1)(PQ) symmetry make the new quarks massive and only couple to the color SU(3)(C).

A natural and simple UV completion of the QCD axion model

Masaki Yamada et al.

Summary: The PQ mechanism addresses the strong CP problem but introduces challenges in model building, related to the origin, scale, and quality of the PQ symmetry. A UV completed model with extra quarks and anti-quarks separated by branes, along with a hidden gauge field condensation, is proposed to tackle these challenges. The Casimir force of SU(N-H) condensation stabilizes the fifth dimension and ensures the quality of the PQ symmetry.

The CKM phase and θ in Nelson-Barr models

Alessandro Valenti et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyze the Nelson-Barr approach to the Strong CP Problem, derive necessary conditions for reproducing the CKM phase and quark masses, and quantify irreducible contributions to the QCD topological angle. We discuss collider, electroweak, and flavor bounds, and find that most of the parameter space above the TeV scale is still allowed in models with down-type mediators.

Spontaneous CP violation and horizontal symmetry in the MSSM: toward lepton flavor naturalness

Daniel Aloni et al.

Summary: We study the contributions of supersymmetric models with a U(1) horizontal symmetry and only spontaneous CP breaking to lepton flavor observables, showing that a horizontal symmetry and lack of explicit CP violation can alleviate existing bounds. The undetermined O(1) coefficients in such mass matrix models complicate the interpretation of the bounds from flavor observables, leading to the definition of a new fine-tuning measure for different observables to study the naturalness of observed flavor observables in given mass matrix models. Our flavor-naturalness measure is used in studying supersymmetric models to quantify the degree of fine tuning required by the bounds from various lepton flavor observables at different mass scales.

Super-soft CP violation

Alessandro Valenti et al.

Summary: The solution of the Strong CP Problem is based on the spontaneous breaking of CP, requiring a non-generic structure to explain a coincidence between CP-even and CP-odd mass scales. This approach, utilizing gauge invariance and a CP-conserving physics at the Planck scale, predicts a dark sector with potential cosmological signatures.

Complete solution to the strong CP problem: Supersymmetric extension of the Nelson-Barr model

Jason L. Evans et al.

Summary: This paper presents a supersymmetric solution to the strong CP problem based on spontaneous CP violation, which also addresses the effects of supersymmetry breaking. The problematic phases in supersymmetry breaking parameters are suppressed by a specific gauge mediation model, allowing for a complete and consistent solution. The generated CP violating phase in the neutrino sector can potentially lead to the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogeneis.

Neutron electric dipole moment using lattice QCD simulations at the physical point

C. Alexandrou et al.

Summary: We extract the neutron electric dipole moment within lattice QCD formalism, finding that calculating the topological charge using spectral projectors leads to smaller errors compared to field theoretic definition. The results show that the neutron electric dipole moment value is statistically consistent with zero when using the fermionic definition.
