Systematics of perturbatively flat flux vacua

Federico Carta et al.

Summary: In this article, the authors present a systematic analysis of perturbatively flat flux vacua for mirror Calabi-Yau 3-folds. They classify the subsequent models into three categories based on the divisor topologies, and find significant differences in the number of such vacua for different types of models. They also compute necessary invariants and discover the existence of protected vacua due to underlying symmetry in the CY geometry. They further propose a new class of PFFV using S-duality arguments.

Euclidean D-branes in type IIB string theory on Calabi-Yau threefolds

Sergei Alexandrov et al.

Summary: We calculated the contribution of Euclidean D-branes on Calabi-Yau threefolds in the type IIB string theory to the metric on the hypermultiplet moduli space in the large volume, weak coupling limit, and found that our results perfectly agree with predictions based on S-duality, mirror symmetry, and supersymmetry.

Small cosmological constants in string theory

Mehmet Demirtas et al.

Summary: By constructing supersymmetric AdS(4) vacua in compactifications on orientifolds of Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces, we have found that with mild assumptions on numerical values, all moduli can be stabilized at weak string coupling. Furthermore, high-degree Gopakumar-Vafa invariants provide strong evidence that the compactifications are well-controlled, resulting in extremely small cosmological constants. The hierarchical scale-separation in these large but not exponentially compactifications is manifested by the AdS length exceeding the Kaluza-Klein length by a googol factor.

D-instantons in Type IIA string theory on Calabi-Yau threefolds

Sergei Alexandrov et al.

Summary: In this paper, the leading corrections in each homology class of the hypermultiplet moduli space in Type IIA string theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau threefold were computed using a direct world-sheet approach. The results are in perfect agreement with earlier predictions.

Moduli space holography and the finiteness of flux vacua

Thomas W. Grimm

Summary: A holographic perspective is suggested for studying field spaces in string compactifications. By examining two-dimensional moduli spaces in supersymmetric string compactifications, a concrete correspondence is developed. It is shown that there are no infinite tails of self-dual flux vacua near any co-dimension one boundary in Calabi-Yau fourfold compactifications.

F-theory flux vacua at large complex structure

Fernando Marchesano et al.

Summary: In this study, we compute the flux-induced F-term potential in 4d F-theory compactifications at large complex structure. We identify two families of vacua where complex structure fields are fixed and flux contributions are bounded. Our analysis provides explicit general expressions for the potential and explores the set of flux vacua for an arbitrary number of fields, linking our findings to previous results in the literature.

Small flux superpotential in F-theory compactifications

Yoshinori Honma et al.

Summary: This study investigates whether a class of models describing F-theory compactifications allows for a specific type of flux vacua with a small vacuum expectation value of the superpotential. By generalizing a recently developed method in type IIB flux compactifications, the research first simplifies the flux superpotential form and then uses mirror symmetry techniques to determine one-instanton corrections to the potential and analyze vacuum solutions in detail.

Merging the weak gravity and distance conjectures using BPS extremal black holes

Naomi Gendler et al.

Summary: The text discusses the charge-to-mass structure of BPS states in N = 2 compactifications of Type IIB string theory on Calabi-Yau three-folds and its implications for the Swampland Conjectures in the presence of multiple gauge and scalar fields. It shows that in infinite distance limits, the BPS bound coincides with the black hole extremality bound and the charge-to-mass vectors of the BPS states lie on degenerate ellipsoids with only two non-degenerate directions. It provides general bounds on the mass decay rate of the tower of states in terms of the black hole extremality bound, implying lambda >= 1/6.
