Bolting reduces ferulic acid and flavonoid biosynthesis and induces root lignification in Angelica sinensis

Meiling Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the root biomass, accumulations of ferulic acid, flavonoids, and lignin, antioxidant capacity, and related gene expression during four different bolting stages in Angelica sinensis. The results showed a decrease in root biomass, ferulic acid, and flavonoids, while an increase in lignin content during the bolting stages. Antioxidant capacity also decreased with growth and development. The differential expression of genes involved in the biosynthesis of ferulic acid, flavonoids, and lignin correlated with changes in metabolite accumulation. These findings provide useful references for improving the production of bioactive metabolites in A. sinensis.

Coumarin accumulation and trafficking in Arabidopsis thaliana: a complex and dynamic process

Kevin Robe et al.

Summary: This study investigated the localization, secretion, and transport mechanisms of Fe-mobilizing coumarins in plants. Different coumarins were found to be secreted in different ways in roots, and they were shown to move throughout the plant body via the xylem sap. It was also demonstrated that several plant species can uptake coumarins present in the surrounding media.

Genome-Wide Identification of Soybean ABC Transporters Relate to Aluminum Toxicity

Junjun Huang et al.

Summary: This study identified and categorized 255 genes potentially encoding ABC transporters in soybean through bioinformatics, characterizing their phylogenetic relationships, gene structure, and gene expression profiles. The study revealed that segmental duplication was the main reason for the expansion of GmABC genes, and intense purifying selection accompanied their evolution. Genome-wide collinearity analysis showed conservation of GmABCs, and gene expression analysis demonstrated distinct expression patterns in different tissues and developmental stages. Candidate genes responsive to Al toxicity were identified, providing valuable information for future studies on ABC transporters in soybean and potential targets for the cultivation of aluminum-tolerant soybean germplasm resources.

Initiation of Early Bolting by Pre-Enhancing Anthocyanin and Catalase Activity in Angelica sinensis Tender Leaf during Medicine Formation Cultivation Year

F. X. Guo et al.

Summary: The study found that Angelica sinensis plants with early bolting exhibited stronger antioxidant enzyme activities, leading to higher survival and early bolting rates. The relationship between anthocyanin and CAT activity and early bolting varied with individual phenology and was modulated by other antioxidant enzyme activities.

De novo Transcriptome Sequencing Coupled With Co-expression Analysis Reveal the Transcriptional Regulation of Key Genes Involved in the Formation of Active Ingredients in Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn Under Bolting Period

Cheng Song et al.

Summary: This study employed transcriptome sequencing and coexpression analysis to investigate the regulation mechanism of key genes related to coumarin synthesis in Peucedanum praeruptorum during pre- and postbolting period, exploring the effects of bolting on the formation and transport of coumarins. Differential expression analysis identified upregulated and downregulated genes related to the phenylpropanoid pathway, with important genes related to bolting process revealed through WGCNA-based coexpression analysis. Key genes involved in phenylpropanoid pathway, ABC transporters, apoptosis-related and circadian rhythm regulatory genes were suggested to play crucial roles in regulating bolting signaling, biosynthesis, and transportation of coumarins.

Transcriptional Controls for Early Bolting and Flowering in Angelica sinensis

Mengfei Li et al.

Summary: This study compared transcript profiles of bolted and unbolted plants, identifying genes associated with floral development and the sucrose pathway that appear to coordinate the activation and inhibition of flowering genes, shedding light on the molecular signals that drive early bolting in plants. Over 72,000 unigenes were detected, with around 2600 differentially expressed genes observed.
