Silicon fertilization influences microbial assemblages in rice roots and decreases arsenic concentration in grain: A five-season in-situ remediation field study

Zixiang Gao et al.

Summary: Silicon fertilization has a long-lasting effect on reducing arsenic concentrations in rice grains, with impacts on microbial diversity and richness. Recommend supplementing silicon fertilizer at a higher rate for in-situ remediation. This study sheds light on the microbial-mediated mechanism underlying the effect of silicon fertilization on decreased arsenic uptake in paddy fields.

Potassium Phosphite Enhances the Antagonistic Capability of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens to Manage Tomato Bacterial Wilt

Lv Su et al.

Summary: The combination of environmentally friendly agricultural chemical K-Phite and biocontrol agent B. amyloliquefaciens F8 effectively manages tomato bacterial wilt disease. 0.05% concentration of K-Phite inhibits bacterial growth and enhances the antagonistic capability of the biocontrol agent. The combined treatment shows significantly higher control efficiency compared to the application of the biocontrol agent or pesticide alone.

Effects of Silicon and Silicon-Based Nanoparticles on Rhizosphere Microbiome, Plant Stress and Growth

Vishnu D. Rajput et al.

Summary: The application of silicon (Si) and Si-NPs in agriculture has attracted significant interest due to their numerous benefits in reducing the negative impacts of different stresses on plants and improving soil fertility. Both Si and Si-NPs have the potential to change microbial colonies and biomass, influence rhizospheric microbes and biomass content, and enhance soil fertility.

Effects of Inorganic, Organic and Bio-Organic Fertilizer on Growth, Rhizosphere Soil Microflora and Soil Function Sustainability in Chrysanthemum Monoculture

Huijie Chen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the application of bio-organic fertilizer (BOF) could effectively reduce the incidence of Fusarium wilt in chrysanthemums while promoting plant growth and flower production. Both organic and bio-organic fertilizer treatments increased the diversity indices of bacteria and fungi, contributing to significant alterations in rhizosphere soil microbe community structures.

Composition of Rhizosphere Microbial Communities Associated With Healthy and Verticillium Wilt Diseased Cotton Plants

Feng Wei et al.

Summary: The study investigated the rhizosphere microbial communities associated with Verticillium wilt symptoms in two cotton cultivars. Diseased plants had a higher total fungal/bacterial biomass ratio and lower bacterial alpha diversity in their rhizosphere compared to healthy plants. The fungal alpha diversity differences depended on cultivars, and there were large differences in both fungal and bacterial communities between healthy and diseased plants.

Identification and Characterization of Arbutus unedo L. Endophytic Bacteria Isolated from Wild and Cultivated Trees for the Biological Control of Phytophthora cinnamomi

Joao Martins et al.

Summary: Arbutus unedo L. is a widely distributed tree species with ecological and economic importance. This study isolated and identified endophytic bacteria from leaves of A. unedo, demonstrating their potential as growth promoters and pathogen antagonists. Bacillus cereus was found to be the most effective antagonist against mycopathogens, showing promise for alternative plant protection strategies.
