Vibrio Clade 3.0: New Vibrionaceae Evolutionary Units Using Genome-Based Approach

Summary: This study presents the second update of molecular phylogenetic analysis of Vibrionaceae, adding new insights into the diversity and evolutionary history of this bacterial family. The results show that the classification based on nucleotide sequences of eight housekeeping genes is reliable, and the set of 11 ribosomal protein genes is useful for identifying uncultured species among metagenome-assembled genome pools. This research contributes to taxonomic applications in classifying not-yet-cultured taxa and expanding our understanding of Vibrionaceae.
